A set includes 4 wooden blocks and 20 cylinders to teach the child dimension and understand dimensional variations in objects. Each of the blocks is a rectangular prism with concave faces to facilitate holding firmly. The surfaces are polished to a fine glossy finish. Each block has 5 sockets and there are 20 knobbed cylinders that fit into these sockets. The knobs are the pencil grip type. The blocks are finished with a lot of precision and accuracy as dictated by the Montessori method. The cylinder blocks introduce the child to the first stage of visual discrimination of size.

  1. Block 1—The cylinders progress in height and diameter from small to large.
  2. Block 2: The cylinders progress in diameter from thin to thick.
  3. Block 3—The cylinders diminish in height yet increase in diameter from tall to thin and short to thick.
  4. Block 4: The Cylinders increase in height from short to tall while maintaining the same diameter.
